          Thought Crime, the act of thinking of something that the party does not want you to imagine. Although one would think, how could they know what I’m thinking, Winston would probably just respond with “because they can”. These people, the Thought Police can somehow read your mind with ease and know everything and anything that you might be wanting to do or have done. In this place called London someone such as Winston has no freedom, with a telescreen in every room and a neighbour whose children might tell on you because they think you are evil. It makes me if the author knew how close he would come to predicting the future. In the 80s people were being controlled and were dying for no reason other than, “I think they did it”. I am fairly sure that people were watching, wire tapping, and looking through mail quite frequently around that time. So it seems that this author accurately predicted the lifestyle of the common “comrade” in some countries during the 80’s. ya… journal 1
