The proles have limitless potential when it comes to the idea of overthrowing the government; As Winston enlightened the reader that there were far more proles than party members.  When I think back on the proles I hope I can get the image out of my head of Winston with a 50 year old prostitute, I know he was desperate but still… she had no teeth! The party is obviously not right for rule since no one conveys any emotion for fear of being vaporized. Their only forms of entertainment are public hangings, and nightly community lectures and table tennis games. This kind of recreation in no way encourages the healthy growth of a society. The children are living fictional proof of this; the one kid shot Winston the man who fizzed their sink, in the neck with a pellet gun, just because he missed the big hanging. I find this way of life extremely disturbing which is what is making it such a good book at the moment.
